Allah knows one is pretending deeds or not?

It does not matter if a believer cares about the praise of people. It only matters if one is pretending of good deeds not to obtain curry-favors from Allah Almighty (SWT) but to inspire people, he or she does not care that Almighty Allah (SWT) is watching, only thing that bothers is that he or she is being watched by people or not.

Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“The greatest fear I have for my community is a lesser form of polytheism… showing off.” (Ahmad)

Pretending for good deeds is not a good habit and it is not been liked by Allah Almighty (SWT), it may be found in different shapes:

Pretending for false faith:

It is not a lesser sin just like polytheism in short it is an act of hypocrisy. In other words it can be said that to portray something on which you do not believe.

Pretending for false appearance:

This is pretending of oneself as he or she is in very devotedly busy, purposefully making prostration mark on the forehead and intentionally making lips dry so that it appears that he or she is fasting. Moreover making bending head down to portray forged submissiveness with uncombed hair while walking with the gait of spiritual discipline.

Pretending by repeating or lip-sing of other’s quotes:

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:
“Whoever calls attention to himself, Allah will call attention to how he really is.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

It may be done by saying quotations wisely, exhorting people to virtuousness, by giving reference of a Hadith to display one’s pious character and also it might include by lip-sing of other’s words as one is very busy in the remembrance of Allah (SWT).

Pretending by means artificiality of deeds and actions:

It includes standing and prostrating in prayer for long span of time to pretend submissiveness towards Allah (SWT) when one is being watched or making such actions like if one is surfing on internet doing wastage of time and on the arrival of any person pretends that as he or she is reciting or Quran tutoring online on internet.

Pretending through one’s scholarly associations:

To portray in front of people that he or she has associations with scholarly and spiritually connected persons.

If we have true fear of Allah Almighty (SWT) in our heart and if we bother that He is the true master of everything and nothing is hidden from Him and HE is watching you everywhere then this feeling might help us in getting rid of disease of being pretention. Aamin..
