  Importance of month of Sha’baan

Shabaan is the eighth month, it is called so because in this month, Arabs went out for the search of water, it is also said that they carried out raids. It is called this because Shabaan appears between the time period of Ramadan and Rajab. The plural form of word Shabaan are Shabaanat and Shaaabeen.

Fasting in Sha’baan:
When Sha’baan began, if the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) still had some fast outstanding that he had not fasted, he would definitely make them during Sha’baan so that all of his Naafils fast could get completed before the arrival of Ramadan. Due to some reasons, a person might miss the fast, however he can certainly make it up before the arrival of Ramadan. Fasting in Shabaan is of great significance as it will prepare you for the month of Ramadan. Furthermore, he will feel more strong and energetic before the arrival of Ramadan. Some ignorant people think that the reason they should not fast before Ramadan is that they should eat up well before Ramadan to store enough energy that can be used later on by the body in the month of Ramadan.
