The Concept of Nature in Islam

Islam provides a complete code of life. Allah Almighty has sent many Prophets, Messengers along with the Holy books for the guidance of mankind and to tell people about right and wrong and stress upon the righteous deeds to perform.

In Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says that everything in this world is created in balance and if someone goes against this balance, shall have dangerous affects. If one pay heed towards surrounding, then that person will come to know that abrupt changes are not viable for environment but also for human soul, Islam does not distinguish between the world owned by man and nature. Therefore, at present ecological disaster is the biggest challenge that world is facing.

If one studies, Holy Quran then that person will come to know that there are more than 6,000 verses of Holy Quran of which many are related with the nature of world. Allah Almighty explains His signs of nature to people in the form of trees, mountains, birds, sea, etc.

Allah Almighty also says that it is the responsibility of the people of the world to use the given natural resources as a blessing of Allah Almighty with care instead of wasting them like water, minerals, fruits or dates trees etc. There are many Hadiths of Holy Prophet (PBUH) regarding the conservation of resources. Hadrat Muhammad (PBUH) put stress that it is important for the people to spend their lives without violating the rules and regulations devised by Allah Almighty.

"If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (sadaqah) for him." - Imam Bukhari.

Islam considers Plantation of trees as a source of Sadqa-e-Jariya. The Last Messenger of Allah Almighty, Hadrat Muhammad (PBUH) said in one of his Hadith that, “Even if the Day of Judgment should arrive and you are holding a sapling in your hand, plant it.”

In the end, one can say that the world of man and nature have great relation and familiarity with each other. If one want to know about pulse of nature then that person should abide according with the teachings of Quran and should try to understand the different phenomenon of nature from the given signs of Allah Almighty.
